Supportive Housing

Supportive Housing

Individuals with severe and persistent mental illness often have difficulty accessing safe, affordable housing. The need for structure, support, and intervention often adds to the challenge of living situations. Birch Tree Communities provides a continuum of housing options that range from intensive, highly structured, secure environments, to less restrictive supervised group homes, to independent living in the community based on the individual member’s stage of recovery, preferences, and abilities.

Housing options are determined based on each individual’s acuity level, need for structure and support, preferences, and independent living skills. We provide a continuum of care that supports members at every stage of their recovery journey.

The most supervised housing option is at our Level I secure units, which provide the highest level of support and structure. Following this, we offer supervised group homes in communities throughout Arkansas where members can learn and practice essential daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning, and budgeting. As members progress, they move to housing that encourages more independence and responsibility while still providing support. This arrangement continues to teach basic life skills and offers opportunities for members to learn and grow with the necessary support.

Our goal is for every member to transition to their own community housing. We provide support services throughout the continuum to help each member improve their ability to function in all areas of independent living and assist them in finding safe and affordable housing when they are ready.
