Birch Tree Communities, Inc. is thrilled to join with ACANSA Gallery for the Argenta Third Friday Art Walk to showcase Birch Tree member artists. The exhibit will include pieces created by artists in Birch Tree Communities across the state that live with severe mental illness.
The exhibit will be on display from November 18 – December 10, 2022, with an opening reception at the ACANSA Gallery, 413-A Main St., North Little Rock on Friday, November 18, 2022, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. All proceeds from the sale of art pieces will go directly to the artist.
Birch Tree Communities began the integration of artistic components such as painting, drawing, creative writing and music into the recovery process more than 20 years ago. The artistic experience helps Birch members build self-confidence, self-esteem, and provides an outlet for expression and communication of emotions in a safe and powerful way.
The expressive arts program at Birch Tree is also building a bridge to the community. Over the past 20 years, members have sold more than $200,000 in art, photography, poetry and music. Birch Tree holds an Annual Expressions Art Sale to showcase and sell member work. The 2023 show is scheduled for Thursday, April 20, 2023, at The Hall in Little Rock. Many members have found a new identity through the arts program.
